I tagged some of my posts and did a search of Technorati and found quite a few posts by YPRL people.

Del.icio.us

I can see how useful this site could be for organisations. Having all the bookmarked sites available to all of the computers is very handy.

'I heart technology' also put me onto Pandora: http:www.pandora.com Have a go, make your own radio station and see what you think.

Rollyo

I had a go at Rollyo - I listed some of my fave bookshops, but need to spend a bit more time on this!

Cheers.

LibraryThing

I catalogued 5 of my books in LibraryThing:

and would like to pursue this site further in time.

Image generators

I had a play with some online generators. I made a CD cover, which I'm not exactly happy with; obviously a serious lack of creativity from yours truly! But I had another go and came up with this which is much better....

I also tried the Danielle Steele title generator,
http://ds.hnldesign.nl/
the letter to Santa generator
http://www.chickenhead.com/stuff/santa/index.asp
as well as the suburban name generator - http://www.suburbanname.com/index.asp?name=execute

News feeds

As in my previous blog, there are a few library related feeds around. I also found that the ABC TV website has feeds for their TV guide, which will be handy.

Bloglines

I had a few problems accessing the video on RSS feeds. I tried at home and work about 12 times overall and couldn't get past about 15 seconds. I managed to subscribe to Bloglines anyway and found it interesting selecting the items I wanted feeds from. Good to be able to access book reviews from NY Times easily. The Shifted Librarian has some articles on Learning 2.0.

Technology

It's been interesting looking at other people's blogs. Very impressive!

Technology is pretty amazing really. When my mum was born, there was no electricity in her house. She only got colour TV in 1979 but has now managed to learn how to use her mobile phone. Now think of all the things we take for granted. Here I am on my laptop with wireless broadband, updating my ipod and blogging, watching digital TV at the same time...

I thought I might add my favourite photo:
I took it when I was in London in June 2004. It is Holland Park, which to me was a real hidden gem, I didn't know it existed until I saw it.

Librarian Trading Card

Well I managed to make a librarian trading card with FD's Flickr toys. What do you think?

Flickr tools

Has anyone seen the 'Librarian Trading Cards' on Flickr? I'll have to make one! Here's an example...

Flickr

I explored Flickr today. It is fantastic! I didn't know anything like that existed. I can see my brother sharing photos of my cute little niece with his family using this tool.

Blog

As we are not registering our blogs with PCLMC Central, I have notified LL at Branch Support of my blog address.

Part 2

In relation to the 71/2 things:

What I find easiest is 'Beginning with the end in mind'. Knowing what I want to achieve and within a timeframe is important for me.

What I find the most difficult is 'Creating my own learning toolbox'. Gathering together physical items such as computers, hardware, etc. is not so difficult, but gathering people to support me such as mentors is hard for me. I think mentors need to be pretty special to encourage someone without being overly critical. I think we all find criticism hard to take, but if it is done in a constructive and objective way it can be helpful.

Library 2.0 Lifelong learning

We are all lifelong learners in our own way. Programming and using my DVD recorder last year was one simple example of this.

With the formal study that I have completed (Bachelor of Education; Master of Applied Science; Graduate Diploma in Children's Literature and Master of Arts), the course that I fared the best in was the course that I enjoyed the most. So the idea that 'play' is an important learning tool is spot on. (The children's lit. was the most enjoyable. I mean, who wouldn't enjoy writing about the brilliant author/illustrator Anthony Browne? Okay, you mightn't like the writing part, but reading all of his picture books was great fun.)

I remember learning ballroom dancing a few years ago. I'm a bit spatially challenged, so I found it rather difficult, but I persisted and managed (still not sure how) to pass my exam. Unfortunately, this photo is not of me!

Some types of learning comes easily to some people and not to others. I am more of a verbal/linguistic style of learner and find the reading/writing type of learning easier than making things or following physcial instructions.

Hope everyone finds the Library 2.0 fun.
